#8 Tartine Bakery - The Big 100 Eat

Tartine Bakery's morning bun is #8 on 7x7 Magazine - 100 Things you must try before you die in SF list. I've been a big fan of Tartine for years and I've never heard or tried the morning bun. One main reason is I'm a night owl and hardly up early to drop by Tartine Bakery for a coffee and pastry.

However, my absolute favorite at Tartine is their bread pudding! It is made out of brioche (!) bread mixed with seasonal fruits. Since brioche bread is egg bread it is rich and holds up to sweet and savory dishes. Foie Gras lovers would know brioche is the perfect accompaniment or start brunch with Brioche french toast.

Since I was visiting the De Young Museum right when it opens at 9:30am I decided to drop by Tartine to try the morning bun and start the day with a latte in a bowl which is my favorite way to drink a latte.

Left to right: chocolate croissant, almond croissant,
gruyère croissant, morning bun

The morning bun is shaped like a sticky bun but the dough is of croissant, smothered in orange glaze and sprinkled with sugar. If you like croissant (which I do) this is divine with a cup of piping hot black coffee.

I can't stress how amazing all their products are at Tartine. Croque Monsieur, almond croissants, cookies, cakes, and bread; everything I've had is delicious. Too bad they are on the other side of town to me.

Tartine Bakery is pretty famous. Vogue magazine had a whole article and section devoted to them and they released a cookbook "Tartine"
