Farina's "Festo del Pesto" Special Pricing

Farina in the Mission celebrated "Festo del Pesto" for a week from March 5th to March 12th, 2009. They priced 4 of their famous dishes at about half off. Farina is pricey and I wasn't planning to eat there any time soon but with the event I made reservations. Obviously, they were busy and the only time slot available on OpenTable was Wednesday March 11th at 8 pm.

I was looking forward to their homemade handkerchief pasta with the award winning pesto for $10 (reg $20) The dish lived up to the hype. The pasta was so thin it was almost clear with a finely puree pesto sauce. I had to hold urges to lick the plate. Another stand out was the Frittos dessert $4 (reg $8): Genovese sweet milk fritters with blood oranges. Beignet-like but heavier with the sweet blood oranges to balance the crispiness.

The interior is very sleek industrial but warm at the same time. The house was hopping and there is a few tables outside to take in the nice weather. I am very happy to experience Farina at a reasonable price. The economy is forcing a lot of restaurants to offer specials so I'm going to take advantage at otherwise out-of-my-range restaurants. Coming up is Jardiniere and Masa's.
