I was in high school when Chapeau opened, every time I passed by at night with the glow of lights twinkling in the otherwise dark residential block; I imagined one day “when I grow up” a handsome man would take me to Chapeau for a romantic dinner….reality really smacks you out of daydreaming eh?

The 5-6pm early prix-fixe is one of the best deal in the city for French Bistro. Come at 6:05pm and pay $38 for the same menu.
Service is solid and attentive with a French accent to complete the experience. The matire’d will take your coat, wine order and convince you to add the $16 foie gras dish to your meal.
One of the more unique dish is the Basil Napoleon dessert: tiny diced extraordinary fresh kiwi, strawberries, banana and pineapple with a plop of fragrant stiff mango mousse with paper thin wafers drizzled with a sweet basil sauce.

The chef no longer comes out to kiss you on the cheek since they purchased Clementine. The family homey ambiance is missing but I’m here to eat!
