the supplies
The "Rose" costume idea ran through my head a while back and this year I tried to translate it into a physically outfit. Intially, I wanted to wear rose petals around my eye (the idea is from manwomanfilm) with a rose covered skirt, and butterflies and leaves around my hair and shoulders. However, a red rose dominant skirt with leaves made me look like a Christmas tree so the idea evolved into a flower garden.
I bought a bunch of faux roses in different shades at Michael's. Armed with my hot glue gun and a old skirt I will never wear - the results turned out pretty, well....pretty!
I detached the roses and laid them flat and hot glued the petals onto the skirt. I had flower beads in my craft box and hot glued them in the middle for some sparkle. The leaves from the faux roses covered the rest of the skirt.
The rest of the costume was accessories (my favorite part!) I wore a simple tank top with butterflies attached to the shoulders.
Butterflies everywhere. Hair and hairpiece with green glitter leaves
I also did a simple scroll rhinestone design on my face with 3D rose stickers to tie in the theme. My faux lashes also had rhinestones, there is never enough sparkle.
Multi-color butterfly ring. Vintage leaf earrings.
Purple flower cuff
I plan to wear the same outfit next year because it took so much time and I love it so much. I will be in Las Vegas for Halloween next year so I plan to change the outfit a little, e.g. make leaf cuffs for my ankles and fake rose tattoos along my collar.
