Saigon Sandwich is #22 on 7x7 Magazine 100 Things you must try before you die in San Francisco. The recommended sandwich is the roast pork at $3.00. I absolutely love Saigon and it hasn't changed since I was a kid. My mom would treat us to Saigon sandwich when I received A's on my report cards. The taste and ladies behind the counter hasn't changed all these years.
What separates Saigon from the rest is their bread. A French baguette that doesn't fall into crumbs when you take a bite. The crust is chewy and they hollow out about 75% of the bread. I like to add che lua (Vietnamese ham) for an addition .50 cents.
