Bubbly crust at Pizzeria Picco
Friday, May 22, 2009
For the past 4 years I didn't even know I was 10 mins away from Pizzeria Picco (PP) it might actually be a good thing because I would be twice the size with my parents singing Amy Winehouse's "rehab" for my PP's crust addiction. The nicer, fancier restaurant Picco is located next door and open for dinner only.

PP is located in the downtown area of Larkspur with the feel of a small town but the block is overrun with restaurants own by successful restaurateur groups such as Real Restaurants and Larkcreek Group. PP has outdoor seating but limited or the counter seats inside the blistering hot room where the oven is located.

PP strides to provide only the freshest, organic local ingredients. They even pull their own fresh mozzarella cheese with curds 35 miles away. The wood burning grill produces a bubbly crusty crust and the dough is nethier thin nor thick. The texture of the dough would make Goldilocks jump up and yell "Yowza!"and combine it with the just-pick-out-of-the-garden like ingredients I couldn't be happier.

PP serves Straus organic soft serve ice cream with usual suspect toppings such as fudge and caramel. I had the dipped El rey chocolate hard shell but I'll be back for more pizza and the salt and olive oil topped yogurt. Pizzeria Picco is on the Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants in the Bay Area.
