Since I've taken a rare weekend off to attend a bachelorette party in which I am also a bridemaid, I suggested Bouchon Bistro the moment we stepped off the tarmac at Virgin American Airlines. Las Vegas weather is still cool in March and it also happen to rain on the weekend we visited, so dining on the patio was out of the question.

The server brought us 2 loaves of pain epi placed on parchment paper. I was very excited to try the pain epi accompanied with butter and jam. The pain epi was dry, hard, and chewy the bread cut into my mouth's roof and cheeks. One of my dining companion said it tasted like day old bread reheated in the oven.

We started with the $7 raspberry beignet, size of golf balls filled generously with raspberry jam. The crust was lightly coated with sugar, with a snap of a crunch when I pulled it in half. The dish was littered with flakes from the layers in the beignet. The beignet was not as sweet as the appearance.
I ordered the $19 Croque Madame, toasted ham and cheese on brioche with a fried egg & mornay sauce served with French fries for my meal. I was most looking forward to enjoying my meal but the bread was overly toasted to the dry point, the edges of the ham was also victim to the dryness. The dish had a heaping amount of french fries, not too crispy and under salted.

The $13.50 Quiche du Jour was Spinach, thick and served like a size of a cheesecake slice along with a mixed green salad. The quiche was firm with a good crust.

Another dining campanion who ate at Bouchon Bistro last weekend had the same experience with service and food. I was greatly disappointed with the three dishes I tried (corn beef hash not pictured) especially since I always have expectional meals at Ad Hoc, and Bouchon Bakery. I am looking forward to my French Laundry reservation in April.
We skipped on the "bouchons" (chocolate brownies shaped like corks) served with ice cream, which is the signature dessert but not listed on the menu.

Mmmmm...that Croque Madame sounds divine. I hope Vegas was magical for you, my love!! :)
Beignets, french fries - mmm, comfort food. Sorry it was disappointing :-(
Sad to hear it was bad. I think I'm gonna to the original Yountville location for my first Bouchon experience!
