Many of my friends have kids or are currently pregnant, then there are some who don't have kids but it doesn't mean we don't love them! I am in a great position, I am there to spoil and have the energy and time to throw elaborate Martha Stewart-ish gifts and parties. I score brownie points and the adoration from the kids.
Foodbuzz's October 24x24 is themed Kids' Table Event in conjunction with Frigidaire.

I love cupcake decorating parties, cookie baking parties, and twirling colorful ribbons on the Maypole; but I needed to rock the boat and try something new. My DIY pancake party will certainly become a regular in my repertoire, enjoyable for kids and adults.
The kids had a blast designing the pancakes, made easy by filling squeeze bottles with the batter. They were able to decorate the pancakes in any combination or flavor, whether it was classic raspberry and chocolate or adventurous bacon, almond butter and brie cheese. The pancake masterpiece is up to one's imagination and creativity.
-Buttermilk Pancakes
-Chocolate Pancakes
-Whole Wheat Pancakes
-Red Velvet Pancakes
I used Alton Brown's Pancake Recipe and tweaked each batter accordingly. I added 2 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder for chocolate pancakes. I used half white flour and half whole wheat flour for the whole wheat pancakes. Red Velvet is essentially buttermilk yellow batter with a tiny amount of cocoa powder and red food coloring.
-raspberries
-marshmallows
-chocolate chips
-nutella
-almond butter
-strawberries
-guava butter
-maple syrup

-bacon
-sausage
-brie cheese
-eggs
-sauteed mushrooms and onions
-kim chee
-butter
-eggs

The topping choices are endless and could be carter to each person's palate.
I used a family size electric griddle, the surface was large enough cook 6 pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage links at the same time. At one point I made a house pancake the size of the griddle and let the kids decorate the house with toppings.

I set the griddle at 350 degree and let everyone have free reign. The DIY pancake party was easy to set up since I only needed to put out the toppings. My next dream DIY decorating party for both kids and adults is gingerbread houses. My wish list is to have enough gingerbread houses for each guest and enough candies to fill CandyLand.

Thanks to Foodbuzz for letting me throw a fun, creative, hearty, pancake party to share with my love ones.

How adorable! I've never been to a pancake party.
You can never go wrong with a pancake party. Great 24 x 24 post!
DIY food with kids is the best isn't it? I have such fond memmories of making my own food - never decorated my own pancakes yet though - sounds like a blast!
