A photo essay of my short trip to Paris...
I just returned from Paris and Switzerland and it was my first and definitely not my last visit. I stayed for 3 days and then took the rail to Montreux, Switzerland. Three days is too fast to really experience the "City of Lights". I was lucky to stay right next to the Jardin des Tuileries which is also walking distance to Musée de Orsay, Louvre, Place de la Concorde and Grande Roue de Paris and the autobus (boat shuttle.)

Musée de Orsay is by far my favorite museum from the list of museums I have visited on my travels. The space is grand but small enough to see everything in 3 hours. I love the history of the museum as it was a Train Station and a place for wounded soldiers in its past life. The crowd is much smaller and manageable than the Louvre so I was able to actually enjoy the art pieces.

I had afternoon tea at one of the many Laduree. The window display "pops" out of the dreary, cool February weather and grey concrete space.

I took the metro out to the Palace of Versailles, surprising only a 40 min ride and the train stop was about 3 blocks away from the attraction. Versailles was packed with lines like Disneyland and I visited during off-season. I can't imagine navigating the Palace during the Spring and Summer months and truly getting to enjoy the splendor and beauty.

I did not have an opportunity to dine at the many recommended places on chowhound because the visit was so short I could not commit to a set itinerary. I wanted to dine at Spring, L'astrance, Jules Verne, L'ami Jean Bistro, the pressed duck dish and many more.
Ah, but it only means a return visit to Paris and maybe during a warmer season.
Until next time...

what a wonderful photo essay! sadly, I've never been to europe so I always love to read about travels and especially look at the pictures... I studied art in college and just swoon at the thought of those museums!
Gorgeous - had to laugh at your pictures of the Eiffel Tower from every vantage point! And I'm hoping to finally head there myself this year!
What lovely pictures! Isn't Paris the most beautiful, romantic city? Can't wait to go back for my birthday :D

Great photos Bonnie! Makes me wish I appreciated France a lot more when I went as a teenager.
I'm jealous. Really jealous. I need to make it a goal to visit Europe soon.
I agree, I loved your Eiffel photo perspectives because that's exactly what I'd do if i were in France, too, and really enjoyed the one of it lit up at night! Well done, and I LOVE that macaron cake. Gorgeous!
